Pivoting
Hi everyone!
Long time no talk. I started this newsletter and podcast earlier in 2020. Then, COVID hit. Then, George Floyd. And, to be honest, I haven’t felt like writing about ecommerce for awhile.
The current state of the world has also inspired me to take a different direction with this newsletter…
Instead of writing & podcasting about growing my ecommerce business (which is still going by the way!), I’m going to use this newsletter and podcast to learn more about businesses who aspire to do good in the world 🌎
My hypothesis is that there’s a false perception that having a social or environmental mission is at odds with growing a business. It’s not that I believe all businesses should have a social mission. Many probably shouldn’t.
But, where governments are falling short these days, I think business can play a role and as an aspiring founder, I’m interested in learning from entrepreneurs who think this way too.
Like Daniel Acheampong.
Daniel is launching a pre-seed venture capital fund investing in women and people of color. In his words, his fund is setting out to “manufacture privilege” for underrepresented founders and make a lot of $$$ in the process.
If you liked this clip, stay tuned. I’ll share the full episode with Daniel this coming Tuesday.
And hey — if this topic isn’t your jam, I promise I won’t be offended if you hit “unsubscribe”. Thank you for being an early supporter!
For those of you sticking around, see ya next time! 👋

P.S. I did release one last ecommerce-focused podcast episode with my friend, Ben Sharaf, who was most recently on the Partnerships team at Shogun. We talk about why most first-time founders (me included!) overthink their launch strategy and the tools you really need to get started. You can listen to it here.
P.P.S. If I promised you a free sample of my product, good news! I finally have an early version of my logo to slap on as a label. Simply reply to this email with your physical address, and I’ll send a sample of tea your way! ☕
