Day One: Issue #1
There's no shortage of advice for entrepreneurs out there.
But, here's the problem:
Most of the advice comes from successful entrepreneurs looking backwards. It’s useful guidance, but it misses the tactical stuff and often suffers from hindsight bias.
Or, the advice comes from thought leaders and influencers who have made a career out of writing about entrepreneurship. Not actually starting businesses themselves.
But, there's not a lot of content focused on the early, early days of starting a business. From day one and beyond.
This newsletter & podcast is designed to fill that void.
I'll share my lessons learned on starting a consumer brand in real-time. Including conversations with mentors, friends and just people I find interesting, as well as, reflections from my reading and mistakes I make along the way.
A little background on me: I'm a product manager at Privy, the leader in ecommerce marketing for small and growing ecommerce brands. I’ve always wanted to start my own business, which I’m working on as a side hustle for now.
Why listen to me?
I'm not an expert, but I’m happy to share what I learn with you as I go.
Other fun facts: I've also interned for the White House; quit my job to travel the world for 6 months; and spend entirely too much time talking about BCorps, sharks, and Mad Men. Just ask my boyfriend.
Speaking of whom, my first podcast interview is with my boyfriend. I know, I know. I swear there are other people I could have asked to interview, but we've been dating since college and he's had to hear about my idea of starting a business for awhile.
Poor him (and now poor you?) Just kidding…I hope. The interview is ~ 10 minutes. If you need a distraction from being stuck at home, I’d encourage you to pour a cup of tea ☕, pop in those 🎧’s, and give it a listen.
Also, if you have any feedback on this episode or just could use some interaction from another human given COVID, please leave a comment below. I'd love to say "hey" 👋.
